buttigieg direct commission

Buttigieg Direct Commission - Mayor Pete was immediately commissioned, received no training, and served as a manager for a unit in question. People who have fantasies about having experienced danger make dangerous leaders.

PETE BUTTIGIEG: America deserves a Commander-in-Chief who knows what it means to sacrifice and who honors our sacred promises to our veterans.

Buttigieg Direct Commission

Buttigieg Direct Commission

Yes, Pete Buttigieg. He literally weaponized his time in the military and his six month tour in Afghanistan - pun intended. What was he doing there? How did he become an intelligence officer? Why is this officer the driver? Under these circumstances, what are the potential dangers of a Buttigieg presidency? What agency is he assigned to, the Afghan Threat Finance Team, or AFTC as it is known? What did they do? What role do they play in this war, why does it matter, and what questions do Buttigieg and others running for president have to answer about these wars and the wars we don't want to see?

Buttigieg Confirmation Hearing Set For Thursday

We're joined by someone who knows a little about all of this: Matthew Hoh, author of Heaven Protects Us From Those Living the Illusion of Danger: Pete Buttigieg and the U.S. Military for CounterPunch. Welcome Matt, great to have you with us, as always.

MARC STEINER: Matthew Hoh is an activist and author. He is on the advisory boards of Expose Facts, Veterans for Peace, and World Beyond War. In 2009, he resigned from the State Department in Afghanistan in protest against the escalation of the war under Obama. Previously, he worked with the State Department in Iraq, served as an officer on a US Marine Corps combat tour in Afghanistan, and was a senior fellow at the Center for International Policy.

So Matt, great to have you back, I really enjoyed this article you wrote for CounterPunch, I think it needs to be talked about this way. Let's talk about what we know and why it's so important to know about Buttigieg's service in the US Navy and how he became an officer by direct commissions and what that is because it seems to be a goal to having, but it is really not clear how he got in, for privilege. So talk about what it all means.

MATTHEW HOH: Well, thanks for having me again, Marc. This is important because Buttigieg is doing well in polls across the country. He won in Iowa, finished second in New Hampshire and we're going on Super Tuesday and he's doing well. He is running, and a large part of his campaign is based on his military service. At his speeches, at his campaign rallies, you will see posters of him in uniform. In his TV commercials there are videos or pictures of him in uniform and with a gun. In interviews, in speeches he gave while sitting behind a debate stage, he said - to paraphrase his own words - "I know war and peace, I know these problems," about, for example, Iraq And Iran or Afghanistan and Libya or whatever, "Because I'm in the Navy, because I'm in Afghanistan, because I'm in the war."

U.s. Lawmakers Want Buttigieg To Speed Deployment Of Connected Vehicles

He said things like, "I know what it means to sacrifice. I know what it means to go to war. I know what it means to live in a dangerous war zone." So that's important because it's what he used to distinguish himself from other candidates open something. This is what he uses to basically say he had experience as president because his other experience was very limited, especially compared to the other leading candidates who all had years, I mean decades, of experience as president elected and have fulfilled other roles. That's also important... that's why I think I started writing this article, because in the US, as I said in the article, the military is a secondary spiritual organization. I don't want to say quasi-religion; it is a religious organization.

You ask what the military thinks, you ask the record of someone in the military, what they actually do, and in this case someone uses it, Buttigieg uses it to define why he would be a better president, you It's heresy, it is blasphemy. You see this, and I have seen my comments on my articles for the past few days. It basically breaks down along the lines of "how dare you ask a veteran?" This is a very serious problem that we have in the United States. This is why we not only continue to perpetuate and continue these wars, but seem to be on the brink of new ones every week. It borders on heresy to question the capabilities of the country's militarism and militarism.

Mark Steiner: One of the things you write about here is that he was paid a commission as a captain through something called a direct commission. Also, no matter what, said you can check his records, but there are no records. Let me read what you wrote here. You say: "No records, and here I will offer the possibility that his records are incomplete, he attended some kind of military school or his involvement as a mobilized active duty officer or drilling reserve. His record is only one DD-214, " This is his service record. These are very important. So let's talk about this. Why is it important to know him? I mean, let me just say it in one context here. Many people in Vietnam, for example, did not see the fighting. They push newspapers. But everyone continues. So why is this important?

Buttigieg Direct Commission

MATTHEW HOH: Again, because that's what he's campaigning for. When, say, there was the issue of General Soleimani being killed by President Trump, or the issue of the withdrawal of American forces, supposedly from Syria, we know that that didn't really happen, they were just diverted to American oil fields in Eastern Syria. But you know, if he gets a question like that, Buttigieg will say again, to paraphrase him, he'll say, "My experience informed my decision on this." And you look at his resume, he doesn't really have a lot of military experience. He received an immediate commission, and an immediate commission means that you are commissioned as an officer in the United States military, the pen is on the paper, and voila, you are an officer. In this case, that's how he got the assignment as second lieutenant.

I Don't Need Lessons From You On Courage': Pete Buttigieg Makes His Case

Most likely, the campaign... I would say the same. When I read his autobiography, when I read some interviews, and a bunch of different articles written last year, his campaign repeatedly refused requests for more information about his military career. So if you look at his military records, I believe it was The Hill, The Hill newspaper published it first, at least informing people that his military records were available, and you'll see that a good portion of them have been redacted, but that is personal information. Again, a good portion of this has been edited, but again this is personal information. The available information is important because it shows how often he actually wore the uniform.

As you said, Mark stated in my article that he never went to a school, he never took part in any kind of training. He's never had what's called an MOS, a military occupational specialty, or in the Navy they call it a code name, but let's use the generic term MOS for simplicity, shall we. He never qualified as an intelligence officer. That's another thing about direct commissions, it doesn't require a selection process. It requires no training. no trouble. So while the vast majority of officers and men in the US military go through service academy, ROTC, or officer candidate school, and that includes selection, training, it's hard, hard. Pete Buttigieg didn't do that. He was a young man then, about 28 or so. Of course he can if he wants to.

This direct commission project has its practical meaning, that is, in a crisis or emergency, the US military can directly introduce experts, doctors, lawyers and people with specific skills that the military needs at that time. But there's also a political aspect to it, and as I pointed out in the article, Hunter Biden is probably the most famous or infamous... You know, Hunter Biden was drafted right into the Navy,
